How do we provide enrichment?
Dehydrated chicken provides a safe, tasty and longer lasting treat! The shelter dogs love it!
We sustain several enrichment programs, each designed to bring a healthy form of enrichment to the animals during their time at the shelter. Being in a kennel all day is no fun, so Friends of GCAS gives the dogs healthy, safe ways to combat stress and be a normal dog while waiting for their families to take them home.

Bully Stick Days!
One of the dog's favorite treats! This long lasting chew is a safe alternative to rawhide and keeps the pups happy and entertained for a bit. We bring pizzle (commonly known as bully sticks) to the dogs every two weeks! Want to support our efforts? Donate here and write "Pizzle" in your comment! Check out the video below to see how much the pups love them.
Our Holiday Miracle
Because of your generous donations, we were able to purchase, build, and deliver 55 Kuranda beds to the shelter dogs in time for the holidays. Special thanks to Wendy and Ed Smithey and friends for their help in assembling the beds! Spending the holidays in the shelter is no fun, but at least the dogs got to be a little more comfortable!

Cat enrichment is important, too!
The cats at the shelter received new toys, hideouts, and catnip from our group.
NYLABONE DRIVE
In our FIRST WEEEK, we donated over 300 Nylabones to Guilford County Animal Shelter. These Nylabones provide in-kennel enrichment to the dogs at GCAS. Chewing is a natural stress reliever, and these bones provide a safe outlet for the dogs to achieve this. Thank you for your support!
